Austin native, Shawn F. Hood has spent almost twenty years creating an environment of residential art for customers in some of Austin’s most sought after neighborhoods. In the hills of Westlake, Barton Creek, Cat Mountain, Austin Country Club, Davenport Ranch, Long Canyon, and River Place you can see volumes of this work. Today, from the golf courses of Steiner Ranch, River Place, and Cimarron Hills to the shores of Lake Travis you can see a new palette of style evolving. This newest offering from Shawn F. Hood is called “The New Southwest” and owes its linage and birthright to the old missions of Texas and native stone of the surrounding counties. With influences from the time-honored designs of houses and communities in Europe, particularly Spain, Italy, and France Shawn F. Hood and his staff have been able to create timeless modern homes that exude the character of yesterday. As a veteran of 10 of the last 25 Austin Parades of Homes in Austin, Shawn F. Hood is currently working on the design for a 2009 Parade of Homes entrant. This ability to focus on the ideas of the masses as well as the intimate needs of the individual prepares each client for the effortless process on new home design. At Shawn F. Hood Design, each home is looked at from the eyes of a master painter. The lot is the canvas. The client’s lifestyle and budget provide each brush stroke and blush of color. The end result will be the ultimate and quintessential “public art piece.” Your new home will provide texture and backdrops everyday life, every hour, every moment. “As a poet scratches words across the empty page to pen a moving verse and as the artist lays oils across the empty canvas to illuminate emotion and the moment, so too does the architect carve lines and sculpt forms to shape a house. The house, more than a shelter from the cold and haven from wind and rain, symbolizes a dream, a sacred place whose character, style and contours evolve from the architect’s ingenuity and visionary power. To birth a House-to forge and organize an unruly array of lines and dimensions that compose and define the Home-constitutes artistry, a work dependent on the creative daring of one individual.” From: A New Breed of Residential Architect by: Howard Englander |
